Coursi Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how Coursi collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal data in connection with its services, and the rights and choices available to you.
“Personal data” means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. References to “Coursi,” “we,” “us,” and “our” in this notice refer to Coursi in its capacity as the provider of the platform.
I. Overview
Scope
This notice applies to people who use Coursi's applications, websites, and related services to request or receive services, provide services, manage a business, or contact us.
It covers clients, drivers and delivery partners, applicants to provide services, merchants, and the owners, administrators, and staff of businesses using Coursi. The data we handle depends on your relationship with us. Information specific to drivers, delivery partners, or business users is described where relevant.
This notice applies wherever you use our services and is subject to applicable data-protection law. Where that law gives you additional protections, those protections continue to apply.
Businesses, payment providers, and sign-in services may also use your data independently to provide their own services. Their privacy notices apply to that use.
II. Collection and use of personal data
A. Personal data we collect
1. Information you provide
Account and contact information. We collect information provided when you create or update an account, including your name, telephone number, email address, profile photograph, date of birth where provided, and account preferences.
Payment information. We collect the payment and account details needed to handle transactions, including bank or mobile-money account details and information submitted to verify a payment or resolve a payment issue.
Professional and business information. Drivers, delivery partners, and business users may provide identity and eligibility documents, driving and vehicle documents, business details, and information about their role or relationship with an organization.
Communications and other content. We collect messages, photographs, voice notes, ratings, feedback, and other information you submit through our services or when contacting support.
2. Information generated through use of the services
Service and transaction information. We collect information about services requested, provided, or received, including participants, dates, locations, orders, charges, earnings, payment status, and related records.
Location information. Subject to the relevant permissions, we collect approximate or precise device location and the addresses or places you provide. For clients, location is used to establish service availability and support the services they request. For drivers and delivery partners, we collect location while they are available for work or providing a service, including while they use another application or their screen is locked. This supports matching, navigation, service tracking, and safety.
Device and usage information. We collect information such as IP address, device and app identifiers, app version, notification settings, access times, searches, browsing activity, and error reports. We also collect information about calls made through Coursi, including participants, time, duration, and status. Audio is handled to connect a call; voice notes are retained as messages.
3. Information from other sources
We may receive information from other service participants, businesses with which you are associated, sign-in and payment providers, and people who contact us about a service, complaint, or dispute. When you choose Apple, Google, or Facebook sign-in, we receive the account information made available with your permission, such as your name, email address, and account ID.
Required and optional information
Some information is needed to establish an account, verify eligibility, provide a service, or meet a legal requirement. If you do not provide that information, we may be unable to provide the relevant service. Optional information and device permissions can be managed through the available account or device settings.
B. Purposes for using personal data
We use personal data to establish and administer accounts, connect people requesting and providing services, fulfill transactions, facilitate payments, and maintain related records.
We also use data to enable service-related communications, provide support, assess eligibility, protect users and the platform, prevent fraud, and investigate complaints or disputes.
Usage and service information help us assess reliability, resolve errors, improve our services, and make recommendations relevant to a user's location or previous activity. We use contact information to communicate about accounts, transactions, and changes to our services or policies.
We may retain or disclose relevant information where necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal data.
C. Matching, pricing, and recommendations
Coursi uses automated calculations to support service matching, pricing, and recommendations. Relevant factors may include location, availability, requested services, estimated distance and duration, applicable rates, and previous activity within Coursi.
These calculations can affect the services, prices, or recommendations presented to you. Service and transaction records may also be checked for inconsistencies that require further review. You may contact support about an outcome or information you believe is incorrect.
E. Stored settings and similar technologies
The app stores information on your device to maintain sign-in, remember preferences, and support its operation. App and device identifiers also support notifications, security, and measurement of service usage.
The public legal pages do not require sign-in and are not used by Coursi for targeted advertising. The website service receives information such as IP address and browser type to display and protect the pages. Your device or browser settings may allow you to remove stored information, although doing so does not delete your Coursi account.
F. Retention and deletion
We retain personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described in this notice. The appropriate period depends on the nature of the data, our relationship with you, outstanding transactions or disputes, and applicable legal requirements.
Account information is generally maintained while your account is active. Service, payment, communication, and related records may need to be retained for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, safety, or legal purposes. Where longer retention is necessary, we limit the data retained and its use to the reason that applies.
You may request deletion through Account → Settings → Delete account. Once you confirm, your account is deactivated immediately and you lose access to Coursi through that account. We subsequently delete your account and associated personal data, except for records that must be retained for the reasons stated above. This includes arranging deletion by service providers where required.
Deactivation takes effect immediately; completing data deletion takes additional time. We may retain information in a form that no longer identifies you. Deletion of a personal account does not itself erase outstanding financial obligations, another person's information, or independently required business records.
Further information is provided in our Account and Data Deletion Notice.
III. Your rights and choices
Access, correction, and objections
Subject to applicable law, you may request information about the personal data we hold about you, access that data, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, object to certain uses on legitimate grounds, and request deletion where continued retention is not justified.
Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it. Withdrawal does not affect lawful use before withdrawal and does not prevent use that is otherwise required or permitted by law.
Requests may be made through Coursi Support. We may ask for information necessary to verify your identity and understand the request. We will consider requests under the law that applies and explain any restriction that prevents us from fulfilling a request.
Account settings and device permissions
You can review and update information and preferences through the options available in your account. Location, camera, microphone, photo, and notification permissions can be managed in your device settings. Restricting a permission may prevent the corresponding service from functioning.
If you use a third-party sign-in service, you may also manage Coursi's connection through that service. Disconnecting the service does not, by itself, delete information already held by Coursi.
Complaints
You may contact us if you have concerns about the handling of your personal data. You may also raise a complaint with the competent data-protection authority under applicable law.
IV. Legal information
A. Responsibility and contact
Coursi is responsible for determining how personal data is used to operate its platform. Businesses and other providers remain responsible for uses they independently determine in connection with their own services.
To contact Coursi about this notice or exercise your data rights, open Account → Support → Start support chat and select Account. Account-deletion requests may be submitted through the account settings described above.
B. Grounds for using personal data
Depending on the purpose and the law that applies, we rely on your consent, the need to perform an agreement with you, compliance with a legal obligation, or another ground expressly permitted by that law. A device permission or acceptance of this notice does not replace any specific consent required for a particular use.
C. Security and international transfers
We apply safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, including restrictions on access and protection of information transmitted over the internet. Access is limited according to the purpose for which the information is needed.
Personal data may be stored or handled in locations other than where you live by companies assisting us in providing the services. International transfers remain subject to applicable data-protection requirements, including any required safeguards or authorizations. The laws at those locations may provide different protections. You may contact us for information about the handling of your data.
D. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice to reflect changes to our services, data practices, or legal requirements. The last-updated date is shown at the beginning of the notice. Where required, we will notify you of material changes and obtain any necessary consent.
